Wetlands welcome to locals…for now

Located 28kilometres south of Barcaldine and 78 kilometres north of Blackall, LaraWetlands is a 15,000 acre station that has grown in popularity over the years dueto its tranquil camping facilities that surround the wetlands.

Lara WetlandsOperator, Jodie Jarden, said her decision to re-open the wetlands directly correlateswith the Queensland Government’s Roadmap to Easing Restrictions, accentuatingthat licences or passports are required for entry.

“As per the QueenslandGovernment Roadmap to Easing Restrictions stage two, we will be opening onFriday, June 12,” Ms Jarden said. “Queenslanders living in the Outback arepermitted to travel within a 500 kilometre radius of their residence to campand holiday.

“However, asper Government regulations, proof of residence will be required at check in, aswell as completion of all required paperwork. Social distancing and hygieneprotocols will also be in place for the health and wellbeing of our guests andstaff.”

Ms Jarden feelsfor those unable to travel large distances and hopes they are able to visitLara Wetlands once Covid-19 restrictions are eased further.

“Hopefully inthe near future, the travel distances will be increased and furtherrestrictions will be eased,” Ms Jarden said. “We understand this is not idealfor those itching to get out and travel. However, we have to work with theallowances we do have.

“The Lara teamwish to thank you for your co-operation and understanding during these strangetimes.”

Lara Wetlandswill begin operating for residents within a 500 kilometre radius from June 12.
