Duaringa’’s two crashes in one week

FIVE people are lucky to be alive after two separate vehicle accidents earlier this month in the same spot.
A 52-year-old man was transported to Rockhampton Hospital with minor facial injuries after his truck left the Capricorn Highway, 10km west of Duaringa, Friday 12 after 2.10pm.
The highway was closed in both directions for several hours and was declared an exclusion zone, when the truck, carrying chemicals, crashed into bushland.
Meanwhile, a multi-vehicle crash involving a four-wheel drive utility and two heavy vehicles occurred west of Duaringa, Sunday 14 at about 7.30am.
The 33-year-old male driver of the ute was injured and trapped within the wreckage of the vehicle, however with help from emergency services, both on and off duty, and the assistance from members of the public, he was rescued about an hour after the collision.
He was treated on the scene and airlifted to Rockhampton Hospital in a stable condition.
A Queensland Police spokesperson said the rescue took place under difficult and trying circumstances, however they were incredibly thankful to everybody who helped ensure a great outcome.
The 56-year-old and 43-year-old male drivers of the heavy vehicles were also transported to Rockhampton Hospital in stable conditions – one with neck and arm injuries, and the other for precautionary measures.
An unidentified male was also assessed on the scene, however declined further transport to hospital.
Investigations for both accidents are continuing.
No charges have been laid.
