A MALE driver was lucky to escape major injury after his vehicle rolled on the Capricorn Highway late last month..
Emergency services attended the single-vehicle accident near Comet just after midday.
Emerald Fire Station Office Scott Castree said the driver of the vehicle was able to self-extricate and had “very few injuries considering the damage sustained to the vehicle in the rollover”.
According to Mr Castree, Queensland Ambulance Service crews were on scene to assess the sole occupant of the vehicle who appeared to be in “good spirits given his circumstances”.
The vehicle appeared to have rolled a number of times before coming to rest on its wheels.
Despite its damage, the driver was able to drive the vehicle to the side of the road after the incident.
Queensland Police were required to direct traffic throughout the duration of the incident with the west-bound lane heading towards Comet closed for the safety of personnel on scene.
The patient had minor scraps and abrasions and declined transport to hospital for further observation.
He opted to visit his local GP instead.
