While understanding the difficult position the government was in, the owner of Gaby’s Hair Design/Studio Exclusive said hairdressers and barbers across the nation became frustrated with the changing positions, especially in relation to the ever-present anxiety of becoming infected with the coronavirus.
“The government is doing its best,” Mr Janho said. “Coronavirus has affected every business in town in different ways. For example, I have to wear gloves and sanitise hands during every cut.
“Everything is different. The more social it is, the more of a worry it becomes, especially when non-regulars come in. It is killing every business in town.”
Prime Minister Scott Morrison released a statement exempting the previously-announced time limit, but still urges Australians to continue implementing the 4sq/m rule and avoid contact with others when possible.
“Following the receipt of feedback on the practical implementation of measures announced regarding barbers and hairdressers, it was agreed by Premiers and Chief Ministers at National Cabinet that the instruction regarding 30 minutes per patron would be lifted,” the Prime Minister said.
“But the 4sq/m rule per person must be strictly observed within the premises, and personal contact during the patron’s visit should be minimised wherever possible.”
