Burn-offs for summer

THE AIR around Springsure and Rolleston will be thick with smoke this week.
Central Highlands Regional Council will conduct a controlled hazard reduction burn of council land at Springsure Creek and on the reserve at Wealwandangie Road, near Springsure Country Gun Club today and Friday, weather permitting.
Residents around Brown Street and another site around Wongalees Street, Rolleston will also notice a lot of smoke around this weekend due to another controlled burn.
People in those areas may see smoke and ash throughout the burn and are encouraged to take necessary precautions to protect themselves and their property.
Residents are asked to close windows and doors and keep their medications close by if suffering from a respiratory condition.
Smoke could decrease visibility on the roads, so motorists should drive with caution and to conditions.
The burn is part of the QFES and Rural Fire Services Operation Cool Burn 2020.
For further information call council’s co-ordinator Emergency Management and Community Resilience Glenn Bell on 1300 242 686 during working hours.
