Preserving Springsure’s history

Central Highlands Regional Council (CHRC) Connected Communities General Manager John McDougall said a conservation plan was developed and endorsed by the council in 2018.
“Recent roof repairs of the hospital building prompted the need to seek updated advice from a specialist conservation expert,” he said.
“Principal Heritage Advisor for Elia Construction Gail Lipke has inspected the site and is compiling an updated report.”
Mr McDougall said emergency works to stabilise the building had been completed.
Soil tests and a building and surrounds survey will be undertaken this month.
“Council is committed to continuing to ensure this important piece of history is shared with the community.”
