Investment tackles health care demand

HOSPITALS across Central Queensland have managed to maintain recommended levels of service despite increasing demand.
The area saw over 5,000 presentations in emergency department services throughout February this year.
Minister for Health and Ambulance Services Yvette D’ath said public hospitals were seeing more patients in emergency departments than ever before.
“I want to thank our hardworking frontline healthcare workers who go above and beyond to care for Queenslanders every single day,” she said.
“The Palaszczuk Government is investing a record $989.7 million in 2020-21 to strengthen ambulance services in Queensland, and we’re delivering an extra 475 paramedics over the next four years as part of our Government’s plan to hire a record 8,475 additional frontline health workers.
“We’re also investing $1.635 billion in our state-wide health infrastructure program to meet the demands of Queensland’s growing population.”
Minister D’Ath said the investment was delivering almost 500 new paramedics over the next four years as part of the Government’s plan to hire almost 10,000 front-line workers.
